What Coil is, and is not
Coil is software and impersonal research. Coil Scanner and Coil Live are research publications: the same scored board, the same levels and the same rulebook are served identically to every subscriber, with no knowledge of any subscriber’s account, holdings or goals. Coil Engine is trading software you install and operate yourself, on your own machine, with your own brokerage credentials and your own capital. None of it is investment advice, a recommendation to buy or sell any security, a managed account, a signal service tailored to you, or a guarantee of any outcome. You decide whether to act, and your agent, if you run one, acts on your authority alone.
Long-only, and where the risk lives
Every Coil product is long-only: no shorting, no options, no margin strategies. Markets can lose money, and a long-only process loses money in falling markets. Leveraged ETFs, which the engine uses at reduced size as vehicles for leaders, are designed for short holding periods and can lose value rapidly, including the total loss of capital. Stops are rules the engine checks every cycle it runs; nothing rests at your broker, so a gap can open through a stop, and nothing runs while your machine is off.
Backtests
Figures labelled backtests are modeled research results: point-in-time index membership, survivorship-free, next-open fills, no live or client returns. They describe how the ranking brain would have behaved on historical data, not how any account did behave, and the research includes the years it lost to its benchmark.
The live record
The record at coil.trade/results is real trading in one account operated by Coil with our own capital, funding-adjusted and broker-reconciled, published every settled session win or lose. Every exclusion and every backed-out operator trade is named in the API note that accompanies it. It is evidence that the rules work when they are followed; it is not a projection of your account, which will differ in data, timing, sizing, fills and settled cash.
What Coil never touches
Coil holds no funds, has no vault and no withdraw button, and contains no code that can move money. Credentials never leave your machine. Coil never sees your brokerage account, keys, balances or orders; if your agent filters a feed by symbol, those symbols reach our server as part of the request, and nothing else does.
