Refund Policy
A fair, clear policy for a digital product — and how to request a refund.
1. A note on digital delivery
Coil is downloadable software. When you complete a purchase, you receive your download and a license key right away — delivery is instant and automatic. Because you are paying for digital goods that are made available to you immediately, refund rules for a download work a little differently than they would for a physical product or an unused service.
We have tried to keep this policy plain and generous. The short version: if Coil does not work out for you, we want a clean way for you to get your money back, while still protecting against the kind of abuse that downloadable software is uniquely exposed to. The sections below spell out exactly how that works for each plan.
2. Download ($9.99 one-time)
The Download is a one-time purchase that gives you a perpetual license to the version of Coil you downloaded. We offer a customer-friendly goodwill window on it:
- 14-day refund window. If Coil does not work for you, email us within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund the $9.99. You do not need to write us an essay or prove anything elaborate — "it didn't work for me" is enough.
- We mean goodwill, not a loophole. Because Coil is downloadable software that runs entirely on your own machine, we cannot un-deliver it once it is on your computer. We reserve the right to decline a refund where there are clear signs of abuse — for example, requesting a refund after copying, redistributing, or otherwise keeping and using the software. This is a narrow exception, not the norm.
Outside the 14-day window, Download refunds are handled case by case. If something genuinely went wrong, reach out and we will do our best to make it right.
3. Pro subscription ($25/mo or $249/yr)
Pro is a subscription that delivers new, cold-validated versions of Coil through Coil Sync for as long as you are subscribed. Here is how cancellations and refunds work:
- Cancel anytime. You can cancel Pro whenever you like to stop all future billing. Cancelling takes effect at the end of your current paid period — there is no cancellation fee and no obligation to continue.
- You keep what you downloaded. When you cancel, you keep the most recent version of Coil you downloaded while subscribed, under the perpetual license for that version. You simply stop receiving new versions through Coil Sync going forward.
- Partial periods. As a general rule we do not prorate or refund the unused portion of a billing period after it has started. That said, if something went wrong — a duplicate charge, a renewal you genuinely did not intend, a sync that failed to deliver — reach out and we will look after you.
4. How refunds are processed
Your purchase is technically made with Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for Coil (payments are powered by Stripe). That means Lemon Squeezy handles billing, tax, invoicing, refunds, and chargebacks on our behalf.
- Approved refunds and any chargebacks are processed through Lemon Squeezy and returned to your original payment method.
- You can request a refund either through us directly or through the Lemon Squeezy customer portal — the receipt email from your purchase includes a link to manage your order.
- Once a refund is approved, the time it takes to appear on your statement depends on your bank or card issuer, and is outside our control.
5. What a refund does not cover
A refund applies only to what you paid for the software — the Download price or a Pro charge. It does not extend to anything that happens in your own brokerage account when you run Coil.
Trading losses are never refundable. Coil is software you install and operate yourself, against your own brokerage account and your own capital — it is not investment advice, not a managed account, and not a signal service, and it is not a guarantee of profit. Leveraged ETFs such as SOXL and SOXS can lose value rapidly, including the total loss of capital. Any losses, fees, taxes, or other costs that result from trades placed while running Coil are entirely your own responsibility, and refunding the software does not reverse, offset, or compensate for them.
6. How to request a refund
To request a refund, do either of the following:
- Email us at support@coil.trade with your order number or receipt and a one-line note about what went wrong, or
- Use Lemon Squeezy directly — open the receipt link from your purchase email or the Lemon Squeezy customer portal to manage your order and request a refund.
We aim to respond within 1–2 business days. Having your order number or receipt handy helps us resolve things faster.
7. Contact
Questions about this policy, a charge, or a refund are always welcome. Email us at support@coil.trade and a real person will reply.
This policy is offered in addition to — and does not limit — any statutory consumer rights you may have under the law of your jurisdiction. Because Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for your purchase, Lemon Squeezy's own buyer terms and refund handling also apply alongside this policy. Coil is operated by the operator of Coil; where this policy and applicable consumer law differ, the protections that are more favorable to you apply.
Coil is software you install and run yourself, with your own brokerage credentials and capital. It is not investment advice, not a managed account, and not a signal service. Leveraged ETFs such as SOXL and SOXS can lose value rapidly, including total loss. All performance figures are backtested or forward-tested under modeled conditions — not client returns; past performance does not predict future results.
