A stock market MCP server your agent can add in one command.
Free, remote, no key and no account: a delayed sample of Coil’s scored board, as MCP tools.
Coil runs a remote MCP server for stock market data at https://mcp.coil.trade/mcp. It is free, needs no API key or account, and returns a sample of Coil’s scored board (the top three names per book, headline fields) one market day delayed. In Claude Code one command adds it. The live intraday versions of the same tools are available per call over x402, or flat through the Coil Live subscription.
Add it
Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http coil https://mcp.coil.trade/mcp
Claude Desktop and claude.ai: Customize, Connectors, Add custom connector, and paste the URL, as Anthropic’s custom connector guide describes. Coil is also in the Claude connector directory. Any other client that speaks streamable-HTTP MCP takes the same URL. The quickstart has the JSON form and the free-key header.
The free tools
These answer with no credential:
get_morning_brief: the regime per book, the top candidates, the biggest movers and the crypto gate in one read.get_market_regime: risk-on, be-selective or stand-down, and which sectors are open.get_buy_list,get_stock_read,get_sector_read,get_market_leaders: the ranked candidates, one name, one sector, the leaders.get_rotationandget_hold_state: where money is moving, and whether a held name’s trend is intact.get_day_board: yesterday’s day-trade state map.get_crypto_trend,get_crypto_day,get_crypto_night,get_crypto_setups: the BTC/ETH trend gates and previews of the 24/7 crypto maps.list_research: the index of Coil’s published research studies.
A tool with a _live twin has a live intraday version, paid per call over x402 or unlocked by a subscription. The free version is a sample on purpose: it is enough to see how the board reads, not enough to rebuild the board.
Call it without a client
MCP is JSON-RPC over HTTP, so one request shows the answer:
curl -s https://mcp.coil.trade/mcp \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' -H 'Accept: application/json, text/event-stream' \
-d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"get_market_regime","arguments":{}}}'
The order to read it in
The board is meant to be read top-down: the regime first, then the ranked candidates, then the one name or sector you are considering. If the regime says stand down, the names below it are context, not a green light. That ordering is the same whether the agent reads over MCP or over x402.
What it does not do
The server reads and scores. It places no orders, holds no account and moves no money; sizing and risk limits stay with you and your broker. If your agent also trades, this recipe pairs Coil with Robinhood’s own Trading MCP. For payment and the full endpoint list, see the quickstart and the catalogue and per-read prices.
Impersonal research publication. Everything Coil publishes is identical for every reader: scores and states about stocks, never individualized advice and never a recommendation to buy or sell a particular security for you. Markets can lose money, and an agent that acts on a score can lose it faster. Coil never sends orders and never sees your wallet key or your brokerage account. See the terms and the disclosures.
